Before & After Care

Before-Care Advice

  1. Let Your Hair Grow: For optimal results, ensure your hair is at least 7mm/ 1/2 inch (about the size of a grain of rice) before waxing.

  2. Exfoliate Gently: Lightly exfoliate the area 24 hours before your appointment to help lift dead skin cells, which can make the wax grip better to the hair.

  3. Stop Retinol Use: Pause retinol usage at least 5-7 days before waxing. Retinol increases skin cell turnover, making the skin more sensitive and prone to lifting (peeling) during waxing. 

  4. Avoid Sun Exposure: Sunburned skin is more sensitive and should be avoided for waxing. Try to avoid direct sun exposure at least 48 hours before your waxing session.

  5. Hydrate & Moisturize: Moisturize your skin regularly leading up to your appointment, but avoid applying lotions or oils on the day of your wax, as they can interfere with the wax grip.

  6. Avoid Caffeine & Alcohol: Both can make the skin more sensitive. Try to skip them a few hours before your wax.

  7. Wear Loose Clothing: For body waxing, wear loose clothing to your appointment to avoid irritation on freshly waxed skin.

 

After-Care Advice

  1. Avoid Hot Showers: Skip hot showers, saunas, and baths for the first 24 hours, as heat can irritate freshly waxed skin.

  2. Steer Clear of Sun Exposure: Direct sun or tanning beds can damage or irritate waxed skin. Wait at least 48 hours before exposing waxed areas to the sun.

  3. Moisturize Gently: Use a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer to keep the skin hydrated, which helps prevent irritation and dryness.

  4. Avoid Heavy Workouts: Excessive sweating and friction from exercise can irritate the skin. Avoid intense exercise for at least 24 hours post-waxing.

  5. Wear Loose Clothing: Tight clothing can cause friction and lead to irritation or ingrown hairs, so stick with loose clothing for at least a day.

  6. Exfoliate Regularly: After 2-3 days, gently exfoliate the waxed area a few times a week to help prevent ingrown hairs. Use a gentle scrub or exfoliating cloth.

  7. Wait to Reintroduce Retinol: Avoid using retinol for 5-7 days after waxing to let the skin heal and prevent irritation or peeling.

  8. Avoid Scented Products: Steer clear of perfumes, deodorants, or lotions with strong fragrances on waxed areas for 24-48 hours, as they can irritate freshly waxed skin.
